I am going to a cook out tomorrow and I wanted to bring something, so I decided to make the Margarita cookies from Smitten Kitchen.  It was less work than I thought it would be, but I had my taste tester work with the lime and orange.  Very yummy cookie.  If you are looking for “sanding” Sugar ——-> Williams Sonoma has it.  To locate the recipe it is located at Smitten Kitchen.

Notes:

I did get a little confused at the part where you mix the sugar and salt together.  My first go around, I mixed the egg in with it.  You want to see someone mad???  You should have seen me.  Ugh, please don’t make the same mistake as me.

I also think I should have used a little more tequila.  You don’t really feel it come through the cookie.  Not sure if 1 or 3 more teaspoons would have thrown it off.  I will try that next time.

My cookies seem to get really brown on the bottom, maybe too much egg?  Not sure why that happened.

Also, feel free to a little more orange zest.

They sort of remind me of the old school cookies in the blue tin.  Royal Dansk.

Final Thoughts:  Great cookie!
